Courtney Austin's path to interior design began long before she stepped into the classroom. Through years of experience in residential construction and real estate, she developed a passion for creating beautiful, functional homes. Today, as a business owner, Courtney continues to expand her expertise while designing luxury residential spaces that reflect her clients' lifestyles and aspirations.

Before launching her design business, Courtney worked in the affordable housing sector, building single-family homes. While she enjoyed every aspect of the construction process, she quickly discovered that the work she loved most involved selecting finishes, materials, and the design details that transformed a house into a home.

"I found myself most excited about the design decisions that transformed a house into a home. That experience ultimately led me to pursue a career in interior design."

Although Courtney had already built a successful career through hands-on experience in real estate, construction, and design, she recognized the value of formal education in helping her continue to grow professionally. That commitment to continued growth led her to enroll at Heritage School of Interior Design Dallas.

"While my background in real estate and design was largely self-taught, I felt it was important to pursue a formal education in interior design to continue growing as a professional. I wanted to expand my perspective, learn how to design for a diverse range of clients, and strengthen the technical and creative skills needed to deliver thoughtful, well-rounded designs. Formal education has allowed me to build upon my experience and further establish myself as a knowledgeable and credible design professional."

Reflecting on her experience, Courtney shares:

"One of the most valuable lessons HSID Dallas has taught me is to approach design with an open mind. The program has shown me that materials, finishes, and styles I may not have initially been drawn to can be incredibly beautiful when thoughtfully applied in the right context. Great design is less about individual elements and more about how those elements work together. Through my education, I've learned that successful design comes from understanding balance, composition, and intention. Any material or style can be elevated when paired and executed thoughtfully."

As Courtney continues her education and grows her business, she has ambitious plans for the future. She envisions expanding into a full-service design-build firm that provides homeowners with a seamless experience from concept to completion. Her long-term goals include offering in-house home staging, expanding into furniture sales and post-installation design services, and eventually designing boutique commercial spaces.

For Courtney, however, success will always be defined by the people she serves.
