Erin Mumford

Sometimes the right opportunity appears when you least expect it. For Erin Mumford, a simple Google search after relocating to Dallas became the first step toward a rewarding career in interior design.

After earning her degree in Public Relations and Marketing in 2021 and gaining experience in both retail and marketing, Erin realized she was ready for a career that aligned with her passion for design.

"I was looking for a career change, and moving to Dallas for my fiancé's job at the beginning of 2025 gave me that opportunity. I found HSID Dallas through a random Google search one day, and I am so glad I did!"

Erin graduated from Heritage School of Interior Design Dallas in April 2026 after completing both the Fundamentals of Interior Design and Master's Certificate in Interior Design programs.

Through engaging lectures, industry field visits, experienced instructors, and hands-on software training, Erin developed the technical knowledge and confidence needed to begin her professional career.

"I cannot believe how much I learned in such a short period of time. I felt so prepared to take on a design job."

While still a student at Heritage Dallas, Erin secured an internship with a residential interior design firm. Upon graduation, she was offered a full-time position as a Design Associate, where she now works on design selections, CAD drawings, client relationships, vendor coordination, and site visits.

Reflecting on the transition from student to professional, Erin says:

"The knowledge I gained at HSID Dallas gave me so much confidence to effectively take on this job."

One of the most rewarding aspects of her career has been building relationships with clients and helping bring their homes to life.

"It's hard to pick just one highlight, but my favorite part, aside from design itself, has been building relationships with clients."

As Erin continues growing in residential interior design, she hopes to continue working in the collaborative environment of a boutique design firm, or one day open one of her own.

"I have loved the experience of working at a small firm. I've really gotten to apply what I learned at HSID Dallas in so many ways."
